You need a humidor to keep your cigars fresh. It is specially made to keep the cigar fresh, controlling the humidity at an optimal level.

At first glance, a typical cigar humidor looks like simply a box. It is made out of wood, its interior craved out of elegant Spanish cedar. But when you look at its purpose you’d realize that a humidor is not just another box. It is utilized as a storage, keeping aging cigars in top conditions. Humidors need a humidity range of 68 to 72 degrees. It also has a hygrometer which measures the humidity inside the box. However do not immediately store your cigars inside a humidor. It must be seasoned first before putting cigars in it. If you don’t season the humidor then the cigar would be dry since the wood absorbs the moisture.

How do you season your humidor? Follow these simple steps. Immerse a sponge in water, not making any use of scents or soaps. Do not also use tap water since it can contain minerals damaging to the humidor.

Then wipe the exposed wood, including the lid and dividers. Spray additional water to the sponge, and put the sponge inside the humidor. Wipe it down, and then place it on a hand towel. Let it rest overnight. Another evening of rest will make the humidor seasoned and ready to hold cigars.
